This page is about making public some quantitative business tools I have developed that will help you use data to optimize important outputs. Please note that these tools will likely require you to alter some aspects for them to reflect your own situation. It goes without saying that it's important for you to figure out what it is you're trying to do and that you have a full grasp of what is going on in your business environment before trying to employ one of these models.
Need a model? Send me an email and maybe I can build a model that can optimize your business in one of many areas, including marketing, supply chain, operations, finance, sales force, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, scheduling, production, etc. One of these things can literally make or save you millions of dollars if properly used. |

Customer Segmentation Tool for Direct Marketing When you have information on a large number of customers, but no idea how they relate to each other, it can be a daunting task to make sense of it all. Is Customer #2293 anything like Customer #586893? If you're successful with direct mailing #443495 should you also send a message to #9324894? Tell this tool how many segments you want (based on how many people you might want to direct mail), and it will divide your customers into segments based on their similarity to each other. Use known successes to determine who else to direct mail. Note: Requires MS-Excel. Needs Analysis Toolpak and Solver to be enabled. DOWNLOAD [coming soon]
Factory Scheduling Optimization Model When you're presented with a situation where you have literally millions of possible courses of action, it's hard to know what to do. That's where this tool comes in. It allows you to model your factory by quantifing factory inputs like manpower, assembly stations, work shifts; and describing SKUs and production variables. This tool will then report an optimized production schedule that will best allocate your input resources to maximize return (revenue). This is quite useful when you have so many possible variables that optimizing by hand would require you to evaluate an incalculable number of different configurations. I built a tool similar to this one for a highly backlogged manufacturing facility and it increased revenues in the factory by $800,000 a month. Not bad for something that only took a few days to make! Note: Requires MS-Excel. Needs Analysis Toolpak and Solver to be enabled. DOWNLOAD [coming soon]
